Case #86: Bumpy Lumkin

Bert waited patiently, which wasn’t easy. He’d had too much soda at lunch. And hiding always made it worse. The closet was cramped and smelled vaguely of old bologna. He pushed his glasses up again as he felt them slip down his nose. Not that he could see much anyway, only what was framed through the slats of the closet doors and illuminated by the blue glow of his clients night-light. but he could see enough.

He would have to be quick. It would see him coming. Surprise was on his side though. If only he could use a gun. But every target had its own rules.

There.

It twitched just a bit. The rocking chair shifted. The rag doll turned it’s raggedy head to the little unconscious girl dozing in her bed.

Bert gripped the scissors tighter and focused on the button eyes.
